Julie Unchu Song: Hide and Seek

Saturday. March 14. 2026

On March 14, 2026, my solo exhibition, “Hide and Seek 숨바꼭질,” officially opened at Gallery The Colour in Seoul, South Korea. This was my very first solo exhibition in Korea, so it was an unforgettable moment for me. I had dreamed about having my own exhibition in my home country for a long time, and I was so happy to finally see it become a reality. After spending months creating the drawings and preparing for the show, it felt amazing to see all of the artwork displayed together in the gallery. I was excited to welcome visitors and share the stories behind each drawing with them.

I was also very happy with Gallery The Colour itself. The gallery has a clean, modern design that matched my graphite drawings perfectly. The bright white walls and open space made each piece stand out without feeling crowded. It created a calm and comfortable atmosphere, making it easy for visitors to slow down and enjoy the artwork. Seeing my drawings in such a beautiful space made the exhibition even more special.

One thing I really liked about the gallery was the first floor. There is a cozy cafe where visitors can relax with coffee, drinks, and fresh bakery items before or after viewing the exhibition. The cafe also lets visitors try different art materials imported and distributed by Sinhan Corp., including Derwent, Canson, Prismacolor, and other well known brands while they enjoy their drinks. I thought this was a wonderful idea because art lovers could not only enjoy the exhibition but also explore new materials and learn more about different drawing supplies.

The exhibition continued until April 9, and I had the chance to meet many wonderful visitors during that time. It was such a joy to talk with people who love art, answer their questions, and hear what they saw and felt while looking at my drawings. Every conversation made the experience even more meaningful. I truly appreciate everyone who came to support my exhibition, and I will always remember this special opportunity. It was an unforgettable experience, and I hope to have another solo exhibition in Korea again someday.

Great dinner at “Dongyang Sotbab” in Mokdong, Seoul, Korea :D
