One thing I really enjoyed about the Portland Art Museum was how relaxing the whole experience felt. The museum was large, but it never felt overwhelming. Each gallery had its own atmosphere, and I liked taking my time while moving through the different spaces. Some artworks felt dreamy and emotional, while others were simple but still very memorable.

“Three Sisters” by Eliza Barchus
“Mount Hood” by William Samuel Parrott

“Portland II” by James McGarrell
“In Lower New York” by Jerome Myers
I especially enjoyed seeing how the museum mixed classic artwork with modern and contemporary pieces. It was fun to move from traditional paintings into rooms filled with more experimental works and different materials. Even the layout of the museum felt creative and easy to explore. Every hallway seemed to lead to another interesting space.
“City Perspectives” by Raymond Jonson
“Eugene” by Lance Wood Hart and “Garden” by Jennie Lewis
“Archangel Gabriel” by Unidentified artist
“Saint Agnes” by Master of Calamarca
“Archangel Rafael” by Possibly Leonardo Flores
“L'arbre rouge” by Dale Chihuly
There were also many quiet moments during the visit that made the day feel special. Sitting on a bench and simply looking at the artwork for a while felt very calming after all the traveling. Museums like this always remind me how inspiring it can be to see art in person instead of only through photos online.
“Universal Gleam” by Friedrich Kunath
“Head Wrapped, Mind Free” by Paul Goodnight
“Skypad” by Tabor Robak
“Speak To Your Ancestors” by Jeffrey Gibson
“For Us” by Sharita Towne
“Embryology-100” by Magdalena Abakanowicz
By the end of the day, Little Kong and I were both tired but very happy we visited there. The museum felt bigger, newer, and more alive than before, and it became one of my favorite memories from our Portland trip already.
Enjoyed late-night games of Five Crowns in Portland, Oregon :)
