Dale Chihuly: The Oklahoma Collection

Sunday. March 9. 2025

When I was planning my visit to the Oklahoma City Museum of Art, one of the things I looked forward to the most was seeing the Dale Chihuly: The Oklahoma Collection. I had seen some of Chihuly’s amazing glass art before at the Bellagio Hotel in Las Vegas, where his colorful glass flowers decorate the ceiling in the lobby. Ever since then, I became very interested in his work and wanted to see more.

At the museum, Chihuly’s artwork was displayed on the first floor. The gallery space was dimly lit, which made the glass pieces stand out even more. Spotlights and display lights highlighted the details and colors of each sculpture, creating a magical and glowing atmosphere. His glass art was full of bold shapes, bright colors, and elegant curves. Some pieces looked like sea creatures or wild plants, while others looked like swirling fire or icy crystals.

Walking through the gallery felt like stepping into a dream. I was amazed by how glass could be shaped and colored in such creative ways. It was a fascinating and unforgettable experience that made me admire Chihuly’s talent even more. His work reminded me how powerful and emotional art can be, even when made from something as fragile as glass.

Had an awesome lunch at “Volcano Sushi Bar & Hibachi” in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma :)
